Jim Cobb is a two-time graduate of Tulane University, receiving his B.A. in 1974 and a JD in 1978. He has carried an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubell for more than 30 years. He is rated “pre-eminent” in his legal ability as a trial lawyer, and has the highest possible ranking for his ethics and professionalism.
Cobb is admitted to practice in Louisiana, Texas and Florida. He has successfully tried cases in such diverse venues as Rio Grande City, Starr County, Texas, to the United States District Court in Miami, Florida, to an antitrust, racial discrimination case in the Southern District of New York in Manhattan, which he won on summary judgment.

Stepping out of his comfort zone after Katrina, he defended the owners of the St. Rita Nursing Home in a 118 count criminal indictment, including homicide, and obtained a complete acquittal on all counts.

Since 2008, he has been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School, instructing their students in Harvard’s Trial Advocacy Workshop, and has returned to Harvard each fall to teach and lecture for the past six years.
